This amazing one-mile run for Columbine students started in 1977 — making it a year older than the BOLDERBoulder itself! On May 19, 2026, this year’s race was a damp one, but a little rain wasn’t about to stop students and families from coming out to celebrate.
K2 was proud to sponsor this year’s Columbine Mile, cheering on nearly 50 years of tradition in Boulder’s oldest and longest-standing race.
The Mile Run is the year-end celebration for the community at Columbine Elementary School, Boulder’s bilingual public school, where students lace up and run one mile around the school together. This beloved fundraising event also kicks off BOLDERBoulder weekend each Memorial Day, sharing a segment of the very same course.
Rain or shine, the smiles said it all. Take a look through this year’s gallery of photos below, and join us in celebrating the joy of running and the power of community — one mile at a time.
